St Phillip's Sports Day.
St Phillips Sport Day
At the start of the day, I got to St Phillips earlier than the time set so I could get all the equipment I needed and set my stations up, this being the 'Relay Run', this beiong 4 seperate lines of a different colour so the children knew what line was theres, there was also a ball and a hockey stick at then start of each line.
After setting my station up I made sure that others sections were also set up and then we were called in for a briefing from MR Scarborough, the pupils all then turned up and were sorted into groups and split. I first met with my year 6 helpers, there was three of them, I delegated them jobs, this being, score keeper, checking that no one was cheating and the other was keeping everyone in order whilst I also help cover all areas with them.
After the first group I got into the hang of things, explaning demonstrating etc.
The only challenges I faced really, was the odd numbers in each group, I had some houses with 8 in one team, 6 in another and 5 in the others. This taking time to organise who was going twice or three times.
I did really enjoy it as it took me out of my comfort zone be dealing with large numbers and running my own session, it built on my confidence and allowed me to notice I could run a session on my own with all ages of children. Whilst I was talking to the children, I made sure I didnt stand all the way up as the kids may find it intimidating as I am bigger than them, so I knelt down so I was speaking direct from their level, I spoke clearly adn loyud enough to be heard so they understood what I was saying to them, this preventing any confusion in what to do and this saved time.
I also made sure that the kids were all supporting their own teams and also that of the others, they all seemed competitive.

School Sport Week
I am working with Jamie Gillum and Nathan Baker for School Sport Week which is planned for 25th - 29th June, we have decided on the sports; Football, Basketball and Handball, there is good facilities available at our school ready to use. There is also secure facilities for personal belongings.
It can be a fun game for everyone, those of either a high quality and those of a lower quality.
The main aim is to get people involved, so it is quantity of participation rather than that if quality of players.
Focus of the session:
The main aim of the day is to get more people invovled with Football, Basketball and a sport that many may not have played, Handball.
In normal P.E. lessons, they may not play these often or together, so it will be a good mix throughout the day.
Q1 - Would you like to an individual sports event or a team event?
Q2 - If you want to do a individual sport, what will it be?
Q3 - If you want to do a team event, what would they be?
Q4 - Would you like to do olympic sports or modern sports?
Q5 - If you had to select from these suggestions, what would it be
Three sports
Football
Basketball
Handball
